What Is NLP Used For?

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) has been described as the technology of the mind, the science of achievement, and the study of success.

For more than thirty years NLP practitioners have modelled the behaviour of successful people in business, education, sales and sport. But, for our purposes here I’d like to show you how simple it is to use NLP to alleviate your worries and fears.

We can use the NLP to take charge of your thoughts, feelings and habits. Having this control means we can rid ourselves of our limiting worries and run our lives more successfully. To fully understand and feel the benefits of  NLP it needs to be experienced. So please take the time to run through the demonstrations below

Boost your positive feelings of a past memory.

Please find a quiet spot to relax and allow yourself 15 minutes to run through the following steps in order:

Step 1:

  • Recall a past event that was full of good vibes.
  • Now in your minds eye, take a couple of minutes to step into the picture of that wonderful event and notice what aspects of that event are giving you the good vibes.
  • Take notice whether the picture is in colour, or is it in black and white?

Step 2:

  • If your picture is in colour, then use your imagination to turn down the colour, just as you would on a colour TV.
  • If your picture is black and white, or without much colour, turn the colour up.
  • Notice how this change in colour changes the feeling of the experience that goes with the picture?
  • Have the good vibes faded or are they now enhanced?

Step 3:

  • Adjust the brightness and volume of the picture.
  • Adjust the size of the picture.
  • Bring the picture closer or further away.
  • Notice how these changes affect your feelings.

Now use your imagination to adjust the picture in whatever way to give you the most positive and enjoyable experience, full of happy vibes.

Feels good doesn’t it? If not try doing it again until you feel that you’ve enhanced the happy vibes to the max.

Reduce your negative feelings of a past memory.

Find a quiet spot to relax and allow yourself 15 minutes to run through the following steps in order:

Step 1:

  • Recall a past event that was full of bad vibes, perhaps you were embarrassed, humiliated, or hurt.
  • Now in your minds eye, take a couple of minutes to step into the picture of that negative event. Notice what aspects of that event are giving you the bad vibes.
  • Notice whether the picture is in colour, or is it in black and white?

Step 2:

  • If your picture is in colour, then use your imagination to turn down the colour, just as you would on a colour TV.
  • If your picture is black and white, or without much colour, turn the colour up.
  • Notice how this change in colour changes the feeling of the experience that goes with the picture?
  • Have the bad vibes faded or are they now enhanced?

Step 3:

  • Adjust the brightness
  • Adjust the size of the picture.
  • Bring the picture closer or further away.
  • Lower the volume
  • Erase the picture, scratch all over it
  • move the picture into the distance
  • shrink the picture until it disappears

Notice how these changes affect your feelings. Now use your imagination to adjust the picture in whatever way you need to lessen the negative vibes.

Feels good doesn’t it? If not try doing it again until you feel that you’ve decreased the bad vibes.

If it’s working for you then repeat the process for ALL your negative memories that come to mind over the coming weeks. But, remember to have fun and enjoy the experience!

Having the control to change our memories in this way is very powerful, because our representation of something in our lives, whether it is in the past, present or future can now be changed for our betterment.
